Indian Soldiers in WW1
Chattri Group Grant Award

The Chattri Memorial Group

The Chattri Memorial Group exists to promote the memory of Indian soldiers who fought in France in the Great War, particularly those who made the supreme sacrifice, and to commemorate the link with Brighton. The Group works to ensure the good maintenance of the memorial and is actively working to improve the site.

We aim to raise awareness of the memorial and its history. We do this by providing information, by holding exhibitions and talks and by organising the annual memorial service which has been held since 1951.

This unique half-hour service on the Downs takes place each year at 2.30pm on the second Sunday in June. All are welcome to attend this remembrance service.
